Chalet in the Julian Alps, Slovenia
The Julian Alps are a relatively small, undiscovered, undeveloped gem at the end of the Alpine range and Italian Dolomites. Its sharp limestone summits, densely wooded valley bottoms and beautiful emerald rivers tumbling through rocky gorges characterize the area.
A combination of Alpine and Mediterranean climates means relatively good stable weather systems throughout the summer and a fantastic snow record in the winter.
Being part of the former Yugoslavia has protected Slovenia from the worst of Western style development yet its close proximity to Austria and Italy give it a relatively cosmopolitan feel.
Imagine the Italian or French Alps 20 years ago and you’re in Slovenia.
The chalet is located in the northwest corner of Slovenia, only 15km from the borders of both Italy and Austria in the heart of the beautiful Soca Valley, renowned world wide for the breathtaking river Soca. The small provincial town of Bovec and its bars, restaurants and shops are a pleasant 15 minutes walk along the river or just 2 minutes drive away.
The Julian Alps and the Soca valley in particular is a calm and tranquil haven with the opportunity to take part in any number of extreme sports.
