And it starts …..

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Kanin opened on time with 60cm of snow on the higher slopes.  Both Sarah and myself missed the first day but managed to get a few hours up there today.  There’s a reasonable covering of pretty heavy snow but it was nice to get a couple of runs in anyway.  We were two of less than ten riding. It may not be the largest of resorts but you still get the whole slope to yourself!!!

Possible trip to Nassfeld tomorrow so we’ll update the diary with conditions there.

New flights

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Both Ryanair and Fly Thompson have started to offer scheduled flights to Klagenfurt in Austria.  Ryanair fly three times a week from Stansted and Fly Thompson just one flight a week but from Manchester.

Klagenfurt is only 50 minutes from the house and so bargains permitting this would be the airport of choice.  Ryanair also fly to Trieste from Stansted (1hr 20minutes) and Venice Treviso (2hrs weather permitting) from Liverpool and Stansted.  Easyjet fly from Stansted to Libjubliana (2hrs).

Freestyle performance coach

Monday, December 4th, 2006

I’ve just returned to Bovec after a weeks freestyle coaching course in Zermatt.  All good fun but the whole of the Alps seems to be suffering from a lack of snow.  Even Zermatt and Saas Fee had nothing to offer apart from the glacier. The temperature here in the valley has dropped to about 3-4 degrees C and there’s a thick fog (it’s just like being in the UK) with some luck it’ll be snow not fog higher up!  I’m heading to Nassfeld this weekend so I may have something to report then.
